GUIDE FOR POLISHING WOODS, PLASTICS AND LACQUERS.
We work with Guitar manufactuers, other wooded instrument maufacturers and reapir centres. Smoking pipe manufacturers, plastics giftware, acrylics and polyester polishers.
Commonly we use the compounds below-
113GZP- Brown cutting compound
A standard tripoli cutting compound, used for pre-polishing. Commonly used with B quality mops or harder coolair mops. Can remove 400grit + marks
Cut 8 Gloss 2
P206- Pink light cutting compound
Ligher cutting compound, best used when 113gz is too strong. Will remove 800 grit marks.
Cut 6 Gloss 4
Glosswax 18- Beige Polishing compound
Slightly stronger cut than Glosswax 18 with higher grease content. Removes 1000 grit marks.
Cut 5 Gloss 5
Glosswax 16- Beige Polishing compound.
The best selling cut/colour compound in the market, used on all types of plastics, woods and lacquers. It will remove approx 1200-1500 grit marks depending on buff type and leave a gloss finish. Has replaced much of the traditional vonax in the UK.
Commonly used with G quality Mops or G quality coolairs.
Most polishers doing flat work will not use a pre-polish (Brown) they will grit down to around 1000-1500 grit then move to Glosswax 16, on flat it is better to use this method.
Cut 4 Gloss 7
Super-finishing compound, used instead of the Atol 6 for a much higher gloss. The compound is much more expensive but gloss results are superior.
Commonly used with G quality, WDR quality mops or coolairs.
The compounds is worth trying on special pieces of work where you need that extra feel of quality.
